IntelliGuard Awarded 1st Prize in Entrepreneurs' Challenge Competition
14 Oct 2004 - IntelliGuard today announced its triumph in winning first prize in the 2004 Melbourne University Entrepreneurs' Challenge (MUEC) competition, an annual competition to recognize innovative ideas and business plans, run by the Melbourne Business School and sponsored by Hewlett Packard.
The award, presented by the Victorian State Treasurer Mr John Brumby at an award night at the Melbourne Town Hall, recognizes the IntelliGuard’s business plan to commercialize its ongoing research and design work to be undertaken in collaboration with the University of Melbourne Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering to develop a defense against Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks.

The University of Melbourne Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering is globally recognized for its expertise in data mining, artificial intelligence techniques for network monitoring applications, intrusion detection, load balancing and large scale data-base systems. The University’s research collaboration with IntelliGuard is led by Professor Rao Kotagiri and Senior Lecturer Chris Leckie who supervised the PhD thesis by Dr Tao Peng on DDoS defenses which is the initial basis for IntelliGuard’s future R&D with the University.
