IntelliGuard Announces New Board Appointments

23 Oct 2006 - IntelliGuard today announced the appointment of Philip Sykes, Ken Benson, and Jim Karvounaris to its Board of Directors, which will continue to be chaired by Dr John Burgin. This new appointment of leading Australian I T managers heralds the next phase of IntelliGuard’s commercialization.

Mr Sykes is a proven leader of technology-based service delivery businesses who brings to IntelliGuard a thorough knowledge of the service provider market. Mr Sykes honed his skills during 35 years working with Australia’s Defense Science and Technology Organization (DSTO), Telstra, Request Broadband, Tennyson Partners, and IProvide. As CEO of Request Broadband from 2000 onward he took the start-up company to $44M revenue and trade sale in 2004, after which he created IProvide to deliver managed IP services to SME’s via system integrator channels.

Mr Benson is an experienced manager and Director who brings to IntelliGuard a strong Telco industry background. Mr Benson has 20 years experience running Telco services within Telstra Corporation, CLEAR Communications, British Telecom, and Telecom New Zealand, and has held Directorships of a number of international telecommunications companies. His most recent responsibility was for design and delivery of network infrastructure and a range of services as Telstra’s Managing Director of ‘Network Engineering’, ‘Voice & Mobility’, and ‘Wireline & Wireless’.

Mr Karvounaris brings to IntelliGuard detailed knowledge of enterprise security requirements and 26 years of experience in various technical positions in the banking industry. Mr Karvounaris currently heads ANZ Bank’s Global Information Security team in Australia, which directs and guides ANZ’s delivery of secure financial products and services. He was responsible for technical re-engineering of ANZ’s Payments Operation and has managed the implementation of a standard banking solution and new business model into 15 countries.
