Shanda Networks buys IntelliGuard's DPS to defend its online gaming services from DDoS attacks

28 Jul 2008 - IntelliGuard today announced that Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (Nasdaq: SNDA), a leading interactive entertainment media company in China, has purchased and deployed IntelliGuard’s DDoS Protection System (DPS) to fend off attacks targeting its online gaming servers. IntelliGuard’s DDoS protection will secure Shanda’s $1 million daily revenue and assure its customer satisfaction with non-interrupted service.

IntelliGuard’s DPS features a multi-level traffic management system that individually protects hundreds of servers in Shanda’s Shanghai data centre. Shanda selected IntelliGuard's anti-DDoS solution over traditional intrusion protection systems and all other DDoS system vendors, because IntelliGuard was the only system that could mitigate the sustained DDoS attacks that were targeting and disabling its login servers.

Shanda offers a variety of Internet-based entertainment services including online multiplayer role-playing games. Shanda's network spans many different cities in China, and comprises tens of thousands of gaming servers that serve millions of users.
